This week we start the novena to Our Lady of Mount Carmel as a church. I invite everyone to pray the novena with their family every day this week. The feast is July 16.

“O Most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, beautiful vine, splendor of heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in this my necessity… O Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein you are my mother. O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of heaven and earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart, to succor me in this my necessity; there are none that can withstand your power. O show me herein you are my Mother. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse. Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your hands.”

I have a great devotion to Mary under this devotion as OLMC was my 1st parish as a priest. There I learn of the connection to scripture, and the mountain in the Holy Land, and St Simon Stock. I also learned of the scapular and the power of Mary to protect a person under that devotion as well.

Let us ask Mother Mary to intercede and protect us all.

Esta semana comenzamos como iglesia la novena a Nuestra Señora del Carmen. Invito a todos a rezar la novena con su familia todos los días de esta semana. La fiesta es el 16 de julio. Los invito a rezar esta oración a la Santísima Virgen María.

“Oh hermosísima flor del Monte Carmelo, hermosa vid, esplendor del cielo, Santísima Madre del Hijo de Dios, Virgen Inmaculada, ayúdame en esta mi necesidad... Oh Estrella del Mar, ayúdame y muéstrame en esta necesidad que eres mi madre. Oh Santa María, Madre de Dios, Reina del cielo y de la tierra, te suplico humildemente desde el fondo de mi corazón, que me socorras en esta mi necesidad; no hay nadie que pueda resistir a tu poder. Muéstrame que eres mi Madre. Oh María, sin pecado concebida, ruega por nosotros que recurrimos a ti. Dulce Madre, pongo esta causa en tus manos”.

Tengo una gran devoción a María. Cuando estuve en la parroquia “Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo” (OLMC) empecé a saber más sobre esta devoción tan particular a la Madre de Jesús. Ésta fue la primera parroquia en la que serví como sacerdote. Allá, aprendí bajo esta devoción a amar más a la Virgen. Aprendí la conexión con las escrituras, y el monte en Tierra Santa, y San Simón Stock. También aprendí sobre el escapulario y el poder de María para proteger a una persona bajo esa devoción. Pidamos a la Virgen María, nuestra Madre que interceda y nos proteja a todos.
